In a fight where you are not vastly stronger, the key to victory can often be
simply that of surprise. Being trained in the arts of stealth, Rangers
understand this, and have means to use it for their advantage.

In order to ambush someone, some things must be ensured: 
* That the target is not aware you are there. For this you must be invisible, or using your 'conceal' ability.
* That the target is not in combat with anyone, as they will otherwise be alert for attack.
* That they have not been ambushed within the last 15 minutes. They would be likely to be on the lookout for attack otherwise!
* That if you are concealed, they did not see you conceal yourself - or your attack will not come as a surprise, although monsters can sometimes be ambushed in any event.

If all the above are fulfilled, you can leap out at the unsuspecting target and
rain blows upon him, with him being too surprised to counter attack. A good
ambusher could hope to get several rounds in before the victim could recover
his sense and fight back or escape! Best of all, if you time it right, friends
can leap to the attack immediately after your initial assault, and help put an
end to your foe!

Furthermore, the target of an ambush will be left in a state of shock for a
time afterwards, affecting their ability to defend themselves properly.
