New page

'''--=== Help for Warmage Command (fortify) ===--'''
'''Syntax: Fortify or Fortify wimpy'''

'''Kaithan's Ward of Fortification'''<br>
The mage Kaithan, as he grew in power, became more and more irritated by the
boasts of the ignoramus fighters that walked the land about their ability to
stay in a fight longer than he. In particular, he sought to find a way around
an old problem: the weakness of his limbs when in physical combat. Looking anew
at the Death Shroud devised by the magus Destin, he locked himself away for
many nights in his tower and performed many and eldritch experiments. When he
was done, he had a new spell in his repertoire, his Ward of Fortification.

The ward is a powerful spell, similar in its basic form to shroud but different
in technique. It lies dormant until the caster is about to lose a limb, when it
instantly flares up, reflecting the damage in its entirety back on the
attacker, leaving the caster unscathed. The limb, while still critically
injured, remains attached, and the spell's energy is spent. Unlike shroud, this
will work on magical attacks too, and healing is no problem. A further
refinement by the Kaithan allows the caster to optionally specify 'fortify
wimpy' instead of just 'fortify', in which case the caster will automatically
flee from combat at the same moment that the spell goes off, possibly saving
the limb from being removed by another hit soon after. The only drawback to the
spell is that while its duration is long, the mage has been unable to make it
truly permanent until dispelled, and in addition there must be a delay of some
10 minutes after it ends before it can be recast.

Cost: 15mp<br>
Cast Time: 2.00 seconds
