Over the years, many of the Magi of the Realms have researched a sister spell
to Fireball - one that would rather draw on the chill powers of cold for its
force. As more and more creatures from the Elemental Plane of Fire have been
discovered lurking in the Realms dark corners, the need for such a spell has
risen greatly.

After years of futile research by his colleagues, the Warlock Lall was
listening to some of the ArchMagi talking about a new 'Wand of Wonder' which,
it was said, could cast a ray of frost. Suddenly insight hit him - the unique
approach that to create cold he could transfer heat FROM the target to the
plane of fire, rather than the traditional avenue of research of drawing the
powers of water and negative energy TO the victim.

His experiment worked perfectly, and a new spell was added to the repertoire of
the Warmages.
