As a Necromancer you will doubtless spend much time helping the pitiful cattle
that inhabit the land shuffle off their worthless mortal coils. Some, though,
try to reject your gifts and attempt to heal themselves of the hurts you have
so generously bestowed upon them. When such ingrates are met, the Death Lance
ritual can be of great use. The Necromancer concentrates all the misery and
decay at their command into a single ray of unholy energy, which will scythe
through its target and leave terrible searing wounds.

The injuries caused by the Death Lance cannot be healed by any means known to
mortals and will remain, festering, for several minutes. After this time the
wounds will remain, but may be healed as normal. Obviously a single target
struck by several Lance's will be extremely debilitated, although the effect of
the ritual is greatest when they are 'fresh', and it decreases the more sets of
wounds are festering on the target at the same time.
