New page

'''State'''
----------------------------------

'''What does State mean?'''
The monk has two primary state types: their Disposition and Posture.
Each state type has a direction, not unlike normal alignment has a direction.
The difference here, is that each state type can and will change rapidly
in either direction. There is no Good or Bad direction for a state type,
only how each ability is tied to a state's direction. Where for example
Disposition has the Chi and Physical directions, a kick benefits from the
Physical direction.

'''How does this affect me?'''
Each monk ability has an affinity to a certain Disposition and Posture. For
example, Palm is Disposed towards Chi and uses an Offensive Posture.
The more the monk uses Palm, the further they will be shifted towards a
a Chi Disposition and Offensive Posture. Changes of those kind are easily
visible in one's State.

It should be noted that abilities which give a permanent effect are not
affected in any way by a monk's State.

'''What if I don't want to have my State in the extremes?'''
That's where the Meditate ability comes in. At any given time, the monk can
spend time to meditate on their State. Through dedication and focus, the monk
can shift their State in any which way they please. Be it on their Disposition
towards Chi, their Posture towards Defence, or to maintain balance between the
two extremes for each State type. It is up to the monk.

'''What benefit do I get for keeping my State at extremes?'''
Read up on the Volatile Effect. It gives a rundown on how abilities benefit
or suffer from having your State out of balance.
