Sometimes being sneaky and stealthy is not the right way to go about things and instead the exact opposite is required. This trick was first discovered by Predator when a smoke bomb went completely wrong. Instead of slowly burning there was an extremely loud *BANG* and a flash of light.

This now perfected trick involves taking a small package from your thieves toolkit and throwing it at your target's feet. The resulting noise and light should break their concentration.
