Heat
--=== Help for Druid Command (heat) ===--
Syntax: Heat [target's] item
Heat Item
Every Druid understands that matter, spirits, magic and energy are all merely
facets of a greater whole. Therefore, with this spell, a Druid may use this to
his advantage, by channeling magical power into physical energy, and causing it
to infuse an item. That item will begin to heat up rapidly, soon reaching a
point where it is of blistering heat. Anyone holding, or worse, wearing or
wielding such an item, will be subject to terrible burns for as long as he or
she keeps hold of it. Gloves will help in the case of wielded items to some
degree. Should the victim be so foolish as to place the item in a bag of some
kind, the item will eventually burn straight through it! Fighters have
complained that bladed weapons subjected to this heating lose their edge, and
are thus not as good thereafter, but this may be pure superstition on their
part. Due to the fact that the energy transferred into the item is constant for
any target, the spells effectiveness obviously is reduced on very large
objects, which require far more energy to heat them up, and is increased on
very small ones.
The item to be heated may just be referred to by name if carried by the caster,
or in the same room as the caster, otherwise it must be specified as '<name>'s
<item>' or '<name>s <item>'.
Naturally any druid able to cast this spell can easily counteract its effects if cast upon them.
