It is by now well established that members of the Rangers often wish to leave messages for each other around the realms, using the ability 'Lay Sign', directing each other to the best hunting grounds. For the most part the lesser classes are completely unable to recognise the subtle formations of stone and grass as being anything out of the ordinary. The only exception to this is the Druids who can at least identify them as being a sign, although fortunately they lack the wit to decipher their meaning.

One day however the Novice Ranger Alista pondered whether the mere act of setting a sign might be betraying that something of interest is in the vicinity. She buried a single copper coin and then lay a sign above it to mark its location. Then from her place of concealment in the undergrowth she sat back on her heels to watch and see if her initial suspicions were correct.

Several townies stumbled past completely oblivious to her presence and ignorant of the sign, until a lone druid happened upon it and was moved to search curiously for its meaning. While the bearded fellow was unable to read the sign he did locate the hidden coin and taking it, set off towards the nearest Tavern. 'That settles it' thought Alista and vowed from that point onwards to erase her signs marking her hunting grounds after herself to avoid betraying her presence to others in future.

Using this ability you too can erase signs you yourself have left around the realms although only the most proficient in woodcraft are able to erase the signs of other members of the Rangers.
