Syntax: Pspray

Prismatic Spray
On midwinters night on the 23rd year of the common calendar, a Grand Council of Warmages was convened - the first in many years. Ladril, the Leader of the Warmages at the time, announced during his address, that he and Alter had been visited by a vision of the Great Magus Rimalax, in which they had seen him seemingly with a rainbow leaping like a serpent from his fingers. The vision ended abruptly, but that night their dreams were filled with dancing hues that flickered and played around them. When morning came, they knew with crystal clarity what they must do, and had begun research at once.

He then unveiled the spell that he and Alter had devised - the Prismatic Spray.

In principle, the spray is complicated, but it can best be thought of as seven spells in one, each of great potency. The caster must meditate for a second, drawing in the disparate magical energies of his or her surroundings - in a manner like that required by the Blast spell. The mage swirls these energies about him, and with an outstretched hand splits them into their component 'colours' of magic and unleashes them upon all his foes.

The effect can be horrifying - seven coloured rays - one for each of the spheres of magic, and, coincidently, the colours of a spring rainbow, leap forth - each striking a single target. It goes without saying that the effects on a SINGLE foe are cataclysmic! The effect of each ray is:

Red: Damage from Fire and Heat.
Orange: Physical Weakening.
Yellow: Damage from Electricity.
Green: Reduction of Maximum Hit Points.
Blue: Damage from Cold.
Indigo: Draining of Magic Points.
Violet: Reduced Resistance to Magic

The Mage must be most careful to ensure that he has a free hand when casting this spell - otherwise anything held in the hand that channels the spell will be vapourized.

It is rumoured, though not confirmed, that this spell has been occasionally known to backfire...striking friends and innocent bystanders.
