Demonic Summonation
The denizens of the Lower Planes of existence have long been studied by the
more powerful Warmages. Some have struck pacts with certain Demons, while
others focus their powers upon summoning and controlling them. Trying to summon
a Demon is a very risky business, for, as can be expected, the demons greatly
resent being forced into servitude by mere mortals. However, the pure power of
the caster can sometimes scare the Demon into submission, or ancient rites can
be invoked magically to force obedience. Any bound creature will continually
fight against its controller's will, and woe betide any Warmage whose Demon
breaks free of his control! For it will follow him to the ends of the world in
its attempt to kill him. A high charisma can help to keep the Demon bound, but
as time passes, the Demon's will to break free grows stronger, so a wise Magus
is sure to release the creature before its will grows too strong.
The name of the creature may be that of a type (eg 'imp') for lesser demons, but for the more powerful Great Demons, Demon Lords and the like, their True Name must be known. Demons go to great lengths to hide their True Names, so do not expect them to be easily found.
The commonly known lesser Demons (and the needed skills to summon them) are:
Imp - Conjuring of 60
Daemon - Conjuring of 70
Demon - Conjuring of 85
In addition the following more powerful demons may be summoned if their True Names are known. To learnt a True Name you must witness it being spoken. Second hand will not do:
Major Demon - Conjuring of 100
Greater Demon - Conjuring of 115
Prime Demon - Conjuring of 130
Demon Lord - Conjuring of 145
Arch Demon - Conjuring of 150
Arch Demons may only be summoned by Demonologists who have the 'Demonic Rage' talent.
You can refer to your demon as <type>_<extra name>. Thus an imp summoned as 'fred' could be referred to as 'imp_fred'. In order to instruct it to do something you would tell it thus:
